A Day in the Life

She wanted to rise in the morning
And greet the day with a smile,
To find all the things she'd been missing,
All the things that make life worthwhile.

She wanted to rise in the morning
To kick the dust off her feet,
And move ahead to the morrow,
To become more whole and complete.

She wanted to rise in the morning
To know that she was her best,
Not lacking or leaning or falling,
Not jagged or sadly distressed.

She wanted to rise in the morning
So the alarm was anxiously set,
She knew as the new day was dawning,
This was a day she'd never regret…
