 Sometimes I Hear You

Sometimes I hear you up at night
When you think that I'm asleep,
Sometimes I hear you walk the floor,
Sometimes I hear you weep…

You've seen too much of blood and death
And you try to keep it in,
You've touched the Reaper's bony hand,
But you've never called him friend…

So you build a fortress 'round your heart,
A citadel, it seems…
And nothing travels past those walls,
But tears and haunted dreams.

There comes a time for reaching out,
And traveling past your fears…
There comes a time for letting go
Of anguish held for years…

This Life is hard and never fair…
That much I know is true,
But remember that I always care
And that I'm here for you…

So the next time you are up at night
And sleep can't find your door,
I'll be up and pray with you,
And I'll come walk the floor…

I'll take your hand and walk along,
Until you see there's Light,
I'll hold you up when Life comes down…
I'll hold you through the night…
