The Locket

He gave a locket for ‘round my neck,
A heart wrapped in filigree,
It’s the only heart, the man I love
Would ever give to me.

A heart of red, such ruby red,
A symbol of love untold,
Is the only heart from the man I love
That I would ever hold.

He gave me a locket for ‘round my neck,
A Christmas gift for me
And now the bells on New Year’s Eve
Toll so quietly…

I hear each chime, the year now gone,
And so my Love is too,
But I wear the locket ‘round my neck,
Given me from you…
